THE FOUR KEY AREA

The Company Tune Up looks at the following four areas. Each of these operational segments require approximately one day, in units of time configured to the company’s convenience, and the remaining time is spent compiling results for integration into the final recommendation package.

1. Organization and Financial Overview

Starting with the organization chart, Edge looks at the number of employees reporting directly to the CEO and the division of responsibilities. Following this is a thorough review of the financials, including analysis of key ratios, funding, banking relationships, management reporting systems and the flow of information.

2. Revenue Generation

Edge examines service and product offerings, customers, the marketplace and competition. It evaluates the company’s strategy and carries out an analysis that covers the sales organization and compensation structure along with the effectiveness of marketing materials, public relations, advertising, direct marketing, trade show activities and Internet strategies.

3. Strategic and Operational Improvements

Every company has things that are handled a certain way because they have always been done that way. Edge performs an objective analysis of how the company runs, including an analysis of how service quality and/or product performance relates to customer expectations. The thrust of this analysis is the reduction of operating costs by creative streamlining of operations. Edge’s recommendations can include anything from combining departments or changing workflow to a complete reassessment of delivery mechanisms and product line/services positioning.

4. Cost Reduction Initiatives

A thorough audit and review is taken of the cost profile of the business. This can be as simple as reductions in such areas as telephone, supplies and other non-threatening areas or as complex as changes in benefits, compensation structures or staffing levels.
