Selection Edge is a process that allows you to outsource the aspects of hiring that you dislike and allows you to use consistent procedures that deliver you the best candidates.
You can carry out a number of the steps yourself, or you can use the resources we have assembled to reduce the amount of management time required. A successful hiring process involves finding ways to involve management time only where it is essential and a variety of functions can be delegated or outsourced.

Establish the profile of the ideal candidate
- Develop a job description
- Agree a key accountabilities statement for the position
- Create a benchmark for the position showing the behaviors, values and key competencies required in the position

- Write the right advertisement and “Sell” your company effectively.

Grade candidates
- Be clear about what you are looking for in candidates and develop a screening tool
- Screen applicants by telephone – preferably using an outside professional
- Run reports to ensure that their behaviors, values and core competencies match your requirements
Evaluate the most effective match
- Develop better interview questions than simply going through the resume
- Create a process where you see candidates three time
- Check references – preferably using an outside professional
- When you do hire somebody, do a background check
