THE
GROWTH EDGE IN ACTION
The process falls
into four stages and the end result is an efficient, effective process
that includes monitoring and pre-determined follow-up procedures and delivers
practical results not typically derived from traditional consulting methods.
1. Intake
This involves an in-depth meeting one-to-one with the CEO to enable Edge
to understand the companys existing goals, strategy, positioning
and challenges. At this meeting Edge will also identify the information
it will need and agree a timetable for fieldwork. Most of this data can
be obtained from various sources within the organization without burdening
senior management. The time spent by your team is limited to essentials,
ensuring that the Growth Edge process does not interfere with the
effective running of the business.
2. Analysis
The Edge analysis deals with the effective resolution of issues
that accompany fast growth. Particular emphasis is placed on growth phenomena
- the strategies needed to make growth happen, the strategic challenges
that accompany it and, most importantly, dealing with the managerial and
organizational issues that confront successful growth companies.
Edges experience has identified five key areas where the
stress of growth is most likely to be felt, and the bulk of the analysis
is focused on these areas, effectively streamlining the process.
HR Issues
Sales and Competition
Operations
Financial
Organization
By focusing exclusively on these areas and by-passing the trivia that
can otherwise bog down analysis, fieldwork can usually be accomplished
in four days spread over a month in full or half-day units.
3. Report and Agreement
Analysis and initial report generation takes a further two weeks, and
a report is produced. It is delivered in an action-oriented format designed
to get agreement from the management team as to actions to be taken and
set up accountability for their implementation. Once the content has been
agreed with the CEO, it is presented by Edge for discussion and
review by the companys senior management at a special meeting. During
the meeting, an action plan is adopted, incorporating individual commitments
to action items and their specific completion dates.
4. Implementation
When the Action Plan is finalized, follow up meetings are scheduled, all
attended by Edges President, Steve Davies. These meetings
are designed to monitor progress against the Plans parameters and
ensure accountability, and continue until all actions have been completed.
Through this mechanism, Edge effectively holds managements
feet to the fire, ensuring effective implementation and the meeting of
critical deadlines.
With these steps, the Growth Edge delivers a practical, hands on analysis
performed by people who have seen the growth movie several times and use
their experience to develop timely and cost-effective solutions at a fixed
price
and ensure that they are implemented.
